Gunday is an upcoming 2019 Hindi movie directed by Ram Madhvani and produced by Akshay Kumar, Anil Kapoor, Sunil Lulla. The film stars Akshay Kumar, Taapsee Pannu, Prithviraj Sukumaran. The Indian thriller film revolves around the life of Jagat Ram Puri (Akshay Kumar), a retired Police officer who goes on an act of retributive justice after he discovers that his son has died in suspicious circumstances. He enters into murky world of political violence to finish the job and takes with him his young wife (Taapsee Pannu). The film is scheduled to be released on June 8, 2019. "Gunday" is a story about the pasts of Bikram and Muskaan from their childhood to adulthood. Bikram is from a lower-middle-class family and dreams of becoming rich and powerful like his idol Amitabh Bachchan. He falls in love with Muskaan, whose father (Rajit Kapur) is a politician, but her family does not accept their love affair because he is the son of a truck driver who sells vegetables. During a small village festival, Bikram and Muskaan are both in love with the same girl, Pratima (Taapsee Pannu). However, ahead of the engagement, Pratima chooses to be engaged to a Karan Singhal (Prithviraj Sukumaran) who is a wealthy and powerful politician. Initially Bikram thinks it is a bad omen for him and his relationship with Muskaan. Apart from being engaged to Pratima, he wants to have a big career in politics even though he has never formally studied for it or completed any training. During his childhood vacations from school he would do odd work such as farm work and selling vegetables in the street. Bikram's father Bikram Ji (Vinay Pathak) is a truck driver and his mother is a housewife and both of them would always quarrel with each other in the house. His father does not like him to study in school and would always tell him to do farm work, but it is because he wants Bikram to become rich and powerful like his idol Amitabh. He wants Amitabh Ji to buy him an Audi car, but the car costs 1 lakh per year. So he tells Bikram that he will buy him a car if he is able to complete education before 30 years old. Bikram does not complete his studies because he has to do odd jobs for which he gets paid up to 70,000. Bikram then becomes a truck driver like his father. He goes to Muskaan's house to meet her but finds out that she is engaged to Karan Singhal, who is the son of the influential local goon. He goes away depressed but later finds out about Pratima, who is Muskaan's cousin, who lost her eyesight in an accident.
